Queen Victoria’s most famous quote was “we are not amused …”  She said that to the Hon Alexander Grantham (Alick) Yorke, one of her grooms-in-waiting.  Alick was described as an “elderly pansy” Flower lover, code for queer I guess.  His  job as a groom-in-waiting, was to hang around the castle and be funny.  But, not this time.  Queen Victoria also remarked ”I will be good,” said as a young girl when told where she stood in the line of royal succession.  Having said that, she went on to reign over the British Empire (when there was an empire),  and her reign of 63 years and 7 months is still the record.  Have a safe long weekend everybody.

While Irene was away, my B.I.L. Kevin visited – to keep me out of trouble lol.  As always we had a great time, lots of music, too much wine, and of course, scotch & cigars.   However, before she left, I vaguely remember Irene saying something about NO smoking in the sun-room.  One of us went outside …
