October 2011 marks the 45th anniversary of the Communications Research military occupation in the CF.  I joined the trade in 1970 and served as an operator and Russian Linguist for 19 years.  At the rank of Petty Officer First Class (WO), I took my commission from the ranks in order to finish my Masters Degree and take engineering training in Kingston.  The Comm Rsch trade had its share of good times and bad times.  Considering our furthest monitoring station was CFS Alert, NWT, (pictured above during summer), there were probably more bad times than good.  I spent a total of six tours of duty up there and still have the scars to prove it.  However, I will NOT be suing the Canadian government for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder LOL.
