Bad news for all Canadians this weekend when it was confirmed that another brave young Canadian soldier had lost his life serving with the failed mission in Afghanistan. Dead is Cpl Yannick Scherrer, just 24 years old from Montreal, he was killed around noon Sunday by a roadside bomb during a foot patrol in the Panjwaii district southwest of Kandahar City. (It makes you wonder whether or not that particular IED was assembled by our soon to be released convicted murderer – Omar Khadr.)
Our sincere condolences go out to Cpl Scherrer’s family and friends during this difficult period. He is the 155th Canadian military person to die as a result of the Afghan mission.
