Well the Olympic Games are over for 2010.  Canada did not do too badly despite the slow start – 26 medals including 14 gold.  Sixty percent of our medals were won by the ladies – well done.  For Canada it is a record – the most gold ever won by one nation at the Winter Games.   We were also third place in the overall medal count, behind the US with 10 times our population and Germany with more than double our population – not bad.  But it could have been better.  Remember our down hill ski teams, with most of the funding, with most of the hype, with most of the publicity and with the greatest expectations – ZERO medals – some major changes needed there.  That’s all I will say about that.  The low point for me was when the ladies curling team had to settle for silver – the high point was when Crosby scored in overtime to win the hockey tournament.    Congratulations to all the athletes and to BC for the excellent games.  M.P.
